What you'll learn in this welding class:

Metal Inert Gas(MIG) welding is the process of using electricity and argon gas to weld two pieces of metal together. It is the simplest and easiest form of welding, making it accessible for the average person to learn.

This workshop that takes place over the course of three 3-hour sessions will teach you how to use and understand the components of the MIG welding machine. You will learn how to weld steel, how to cut metal on the horizontal and vertical bandsaws, and get an overview of the metal fabrication shop and the variety of metalworking tools in it.

Prerequisites: This is open to anyone 18 and up. No welding experience necessary. Please wear hair tied back, closed toe boots, jeans, and long-sleeved shirts.

Materials: Your materials fee pays for steel & gas. We provide safety protection including welding masks, goggles, leather jackets and gloves.

Great course, I made much more progress than I expected to in 3 weeks! You can't get the crucial feedback of an instructor from a youtube video or book. I highly recommend taking it if you want to learn to weld right.

This class is great for the beginner.Scott covers the theory of welding so you get an practical understanding of welding. You get a chance to practice you new skill by making some art. Of course, there is a lot more to know to be able to plan and complete your future projects. I need more practice to make great welds. I'm looking forward to learning some more skills:Plasma cutting, angle grinder, TIG welding to one day create some creative art.
