Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a model of the structure of subjective experience that provides a conceptual frame for understanding thought processes. These skills facilitate effective communication, learning and change. Because it is sensory-based, it is possible to test and verify the results of NLP procedures.
In the early 1970's, John Grinder and Richard Bandler set out to discover what accounted for the high therapeutic success rates of three exceptional communicators, Fritz Perls, Milton Erickson and Virginia Satir. They modeled these and other effective communicators to find out how they influenced people and facilitated behavioral change.
Their work isolated the key components of good people skills. NLP is used in business, training, sales, law, counseling and consulting - any field in which interpersonal understanding is vital.
