This is a great class and I have taken it a handful of times. Because most students have been with Klaus for many years, the projects sometimes veer off the traditional hollow construction methods depending on what the students are interested in. This is not a problem for me since I take this particular class because of the teacher, not the project. So this review is more about Klaus as an instructor. Klaus is not only a master jeweler (taught in Germany) who emphasizes precision and proper technique, but also a phenomenal teacher. He cares about the work his students produce and encourages them to push their limits and achieve high quality craftsmanship. He is a straight shooter with a sense of humor. I've taken many classes at the 92nd St Y and keep going back to Klaus' because of his exceptional ability to impart his expertise that can help students grow at any level. The 92nd St Y overall has a great jewelry program, but some instructors are better teachers than others. I find all are amazing jewelers, but not necessarily good teachers. Some struggle to command a class and provide instruction.
